who am i?

really still trying to figure that out, folks.

here are some things I do know, for now

I am a lover of animals and all things nature. I have two dogs, six chickens, and a hamster. I grew up riding horses competitively and am a certified crazy horse girl. I love hiking, camping, and spending time outside in general. I am easily mesmerized by the smallest of things, interestingly shaped icicles, leaves making the most perfect rustling sound in the wind, a squirrel trying to figure out the best way to steal some seed from a bird feeder. Seriously. I will stare at these things for way too long.

I love to travel. Wanderlust runs through my veins from both sides of the family. As my parents have been divorced since I was quite small, I like to say that, growing up, my sister and I had twice the amount of adventures between the two of them. They have vastly different traveling styles, so I really feel like I got the full spectrum of experiences before I started branching out on my own. I LOVE solo travel. That is how to do it if you’re an introvert (which I am, big time). It is sometimes hard for me to contemplate staying in one place for too long but at the same time…

I love routine. I love early bedtimes and morning rituals. I thrive on being up before the sun and enjoying the quiet hours before the rest of the world begins to stir. I like sitting in my yard and watching my chickens do chicken things. I love my daily yoga practice and doing whatever other physical activity sounds appealing to me on any given day.

I am also a gigantic nerd. No way around it. By trade I am a software engineer. I spend my days writing code, fixing bugs, and problem solving. I love video games and have obsessive tendencies towards certain fandoms. My dogs are both named after Harry Potter characters (as are four of my chickens). I have probably surpassed 100 reads of that particular series (not an exaggeration). I have gotten every Zelda game from the past two decades on the day it has come out. The list does not end there, but it will for the sake of brevity (ha!).

I love being creative, but I am not great at focusing. That means that I jump from project to project at the speed of light and some might say I have a problem with “follow through”. I love writing. I love the written word and the things that you can do with it. Sometimes I’ll randomly get the whim to draw and i will do that for a few days before I decide i’m terrible at it and move on to the next thing (I am working on this). I have a million ideas and therefore it’s hard to pick just one to commit to.

If it’s not exceedingly apparent from this shot at a bio alone (I left out so many things!!), I have far too many interests and not enough time to pursue everything. Not included here are the myriad of hobbies i’ve picked up and put down, often repeatedly, along the way (archery, knitting, ballet, basically any instrument you can think of etc). I love singing and cooking and baking and taking photos. I love my friends and family and reading and listening to audio books and music. I guess maybe my one great passion is for life and experiencing everything and anything it has to offer.

So what am I planning on putting on this site? I’m assuming the niche will reflect what my bio says about me, which is to say, there is probably no niche. Recently I have been using writing as a way to reflect on the intense path of personal growth I have been following for a few years now. I imagine it’ll be a lot of sappy, introspective kind of stuff. Anyways, thanks for being here, I hope you enjoy!

hi!
